This jam track has a great bluesy tempo and chord progression. The bluesy sound come from laid back swing feel, but also from the many consecutive dominant 7th chords. This many dominant 7th chords presents a challenge to the improviser as the tonal center seems to shift quickly. The tonal center (what we are loosely calling the key) is Bb. This sense of key occurs because the root notes of most of these chords can be traced to the key of Bb major. The important point is that progressions made up mostly of dominant 7th chords tend to sound bluesy. The Bb major blues scale (1-b3-3-4-b5-6-b7) is an excellent choice for this track with the exception of bars 9 and 10. These two bars suggest a modulation to the key of Eb major. Playing the Eb major scale/arpeggio for these two bars will connect your solo to these changes. If you have a diminished arpeggio in your bag use it over the E diminished 7th chord in bar 12. Whatever your note choices though, let the blues inflections come through in your playing to really make your solo fit the style. 114 BPM.
Recommended Scales: Bb major blues scale, Eb major, Bb blues/minor pentatonic, E diminished arpeggio.
