This bluesy two-chord vamp is good fun to play over while getting a good workout alternating between two chords. The easiest way to improvise over this entire jam track is with the D blues/minor pentatonic and aeolian scales. If you’re looking to add more variety to your soloing you can try using D dorian over the first chord and then G dorian over the second. For more variety yet, try arpeggiating with Dm6, Dm7, Dm9, D7sus11, Dm(maj7) over just the Dm7 chord. A similar approach can be used over the Gm7 chord using the same arpeggios but relative to Gmin. When you change scales/modes over each chord it is called “vertical” soloing since you are thinking of each chord as a separate key. 120 BPM.
Recommended Scales: D and G blues/minor pentatonic, aeolian, dorian, harmonic minor, relative arpeggios.
